Our strapline is Great Strength Everyday.
We’re here to make you feel great. To make you stronger in mind and body. Everyday.
Our small classes of 4 mean we’ll work very closely with you from the moment you join.
The first thing we’ll do is meet with you, one-to-one. We’ll find out about you. Your training history. What you want to achieve. Your motivations. So we can make sure you get the most out of being part of our team and together we can keep track of your progress.
But we also want you to get to know us. To see the space. Talk to us and find out how our classes will work. How else we can help you. And overcome any fears you may have. We want to take the intimidation away. To show you that neither we nor CrossFit is scary and is for everyone.
CrossFit is, “Constantly varied, functional movements, at high intensity.” But what does this mean?
Constantly varied - Always changing training and movements. This means it’s never the same. It keeps it interesting and your body guessing. It means you’re always learning new things and you don’t get bored. Each day’s training is programmed for you, so you just turn up and you’re coached through any new movements and the workout.
Functional movements - Ways of moving that you find in everyday life. Like squatting or deadlifting (i.e. bending to pick something off the floor), pulling yourself up and many others.
High intensity - Intensity is the weight, speed or distance a particular exercise, or movement, is performed at, or over. This is completely dependent on the individual. For some this might mean performing a movement with a weight of 20kg, or over a distance of 200m. For others, it might mean 40kg, or over 400m. The weight or distance doesn’t matter. The stimulus and making sure the movement is performed safely, technically correct and consistently is what is most important. Your strength, technique and fitness will develop and so will the intensity you can perform at.
Whilst this is it’s definition, CrossFit is more than this. It’s training as part of a team. A community. A group of people doing the same workout on the same day as you. A feeling of camaraderie and that you are in this together, driving and spurring each other on.
In anything you do, the people make it what it is. This is never more apparent than in CrossFit.
