WHY CROSSFIT
BECAUSE IT DEVELOPS THE WHOLE YOU
The essence of CrossFit is to be able to do whatever is in front of you. To train your body and mind to be able to deal with constantly varied physical demands.
CrossFit defines fitness as, “Work capacity over broad time and modal domains.”
This means you can run and powerlift. You can sprint and weight train. You can do strongman and gymnastics. You can do long or short, endurance or explosive, grace or power, balance or strength in your workouts.
CrossFit is developing your whole fitness. Not just one aspect. It is continual variation to make your body adapt to whatever you want it to do.
CrossFit is:
“Constantly varied, functional movements, at high intensity.”
Constantly varied
Always changing training and movements. This means it’s never the same. It keeps it interesting and your body guessing. It means you’re always learning new things and you don’t get bored. Each day’s training is programmed for you, so you just turn up and you’re coached through any new movements and the workout.
Functional movements
Ways of moving that you find in everyday life. Like squatting or deadlifting (i.e. bending to pick something off the floor), pulling yourself up and many others.
HIGH INTENSITY
Intensity is the weight, speed or distance a particular exercise, or movement, is performed at, or over. This is completely dependent on the individual. For some this might mean a weight of 20kg, or a distance of 200m. For others, it might mean 40kg or 400m. The weight or distance doesn’t matter. The stimulus and making sure the movement is performed safely, mechanically correct and consistently is what does.
Through consistency and technique you will see improvement and the ability to increase intensity as a result.

CrossFit is for everyone and anyone. Young and old. Girl or boy. The wannabe athlete or I just wanna get fit.
For many the gym and fitness conjure up images and feelings of dread, dislike and misery. But why does it have to be this way?
BUT CROSSFIT IS MORE THAN THIS
It’s training as part of a team. A community. A group of people doing the same workout on the same day as you. A feeling of belonging and that you are in this together, driving and spurring each other on.
In anything you do, the people make it what it is. This is never more true than in CrossFit.

I’ve always enjoyed exercise but I’ve finally found a gym that pushes me every session and is enjoyable! As someone with joint issues there’s always an option to scale the workouts, it’s very inclusive.
